9th day of Boozemas

"On the 9th day of Boozemas my true love gave to me, 9 angry birds!"

One of them even made it into the picture. He's angry he can't drink some of this delicious concoction, which I'm going to call a Chocolate Orange. Nothing says Christmas like a chocolate orange in your stocking and here we have it in a cup. 1 oz of Grand Marnier and 4 oz of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and some orange zest for color. This would be an amazing thing to have to have after a day of sledding or building snowmen, but since we have no sign of snow here in Seattle we enjoyed it after a long day at work.

Cheers!

8th day of Boozemas

"On the 8th day of Boozemas my true love gave to me, 8 slices of pizza"

Of which, he ate at least four. And come to think of it, I went to get the pizza.... Who cares! It was Monday Night Football night so we enjoyed a few beers and some pizza. For this night we choose purely based on animals in the logo and ended up with the Frog Ale , the 10 Below and the Raven Mad. All great beers to watch the game on a cold winter's night!

Cheers!

7th Day of Boozemas

"On the 7th day of Boozemas my true love gave to me, 700 miles!"

O.k. kidding, it wasn't really 700 miles, it just felt like it. One of the great joys of the holiday season is traveling 11 billion miles, usually by car. On the 7th day of Boozemas we found ourselves driving our daughter to meet her grandmother to stay with her for her first week of Christmas vacation, when we finally got to the designated meeting point, the Valley Cafe we celebrated by having a beer. A locally crafted brew by the Iron Horse Brewery, presumably named after the Iron Horse Trail a trail that we've biked several times. Back to the beer. Yum! So good and really hit the spot after traveling. In fact it made such an impression, we stopped by the brewery itself on the way home to pick up a couple bottles in anticipation of our arrival home.

Cheers!

6th Day of Boozemas

"On the 6th day of Boozemas my true love gave to me, 6 types of sprinkles!"

Most of the sprinkles made it to the cookies, but a few left overs made it to Boozemas. I'm going to call tonight's drink a Peppermint Kiss. A blend of vanilla ice cream, a candy cane, and a shot of Bulliett Bourbon. Dairy Queen would be a lot more popular if they started putting a slug of booze in their blizzards. Of course, they may have to rethink serving them in a drive-through. Regardless! This was the perfect thing to curl up on the couch with after a long day of cookie making, wrapping, and trying to get along with your family.

5th Day of Boozemas

"On the 5th day of Christmas my true love gave to me; 5 sips of Pom!"

Here's our version of a Vodka Cran, a Vodka Pom! Pom is one of those things that you want it to be really, really, unbelievably tasty because it seems that anything that pretty and that hard to create has simply GOT to be the nectar of the gods. But, then you pour yourself a glass and it tastes a lot like cranberry juice. It's good, but it's not exactly ambrosia. Still it remains a lovely addition to the 12 days of Boozemas.

Vodka Pom
1 oz Vodka
Pom Juice
Squeeze of Lime
Ice
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker, shake and strain into glass

Cheers!

4th Day of Boozemas

"On the fourth day of Boozemas my true love gave to me, 4 ounces of Midori!"

Boy oh boy was this drink merry and bright! Look at it! It's red AND green and it nearly screams Christmas. O.k. maybe it just screams Boozemas. Major points for the look of this drink. For the record; it's called a melon ball, but I'm not sure how the cherry makes it way in there..... Also earns points for ease, just midori, a cherry and some soda.

Cheers!

3rd Day of Boozemas

"On the 3rd Day of Boozemas my true love gave to me! Three Hot Buttered Rums"

Kidding. No one can drink three hot buttered rums and type.

You know what is a universal truth? That butter makes everything better. This drink really proves it. I mean, who would have ever thought "Let's put butter in the rum! It'll be delicious!" Who knows, but they were clearly cold as hell and had an excess of butter. All in all not a bad drink. It's actually one of those that gets better as you drink it, but like lots of "Olde Timey" drinks, like the Old Fashioned and the Martini.. kind of heavy on the alcohol and low on the "yum." Still! It gets the thumbs up for a being a classic and bringing warmth to your bones.

Cheers!

2nd Day of Boozemas

"On the second day of Boozemas my true love gave to me 2 oz of brandy"
In this case it was 2 oz of Clear Creek Apple Brandy, aged 8 years

Oh holy night! Have you ever had Brandy? I haven't. I'm not sure how much brandy I'll be consuming on a regular basis. Wow. It does, however, give your whole body a nice "warm by the fire" feel, so we'll give it a thumbs up in the "Chritmassy" category. If anyone has any suggestions of a brand to try in the future we're all ears!

In case you need something to do while sipping your brandy, how about trying folding money? I made a tiny shirt.

Welcome to the 12 Days of the Boozing Brosez' Christmas!

"On the first day of Booze Christmas my true love gave to me a mojito in a lovely new glass."

This Christmas Mojito is made is 1.5 oz of mint simple syrup, 1.5 oz of silver rum, a squeeze of lime juice and and ample pour of club soda to top it all off. The only thing that is actually Christmassy about this drink is that they stood next to a poinsettia for the picture. Nevertheless they are a festive and delicious addition to the first day of Christmas.

Cheers!
